Style File: Gigi Hadid

While a lot of my fashion inspiration comes from runways, I often look to street style to get a real sense of how people interpret trends and integrate them into their personal style. Someone who really has a talent of taking runway looks to the street is model, Gigi Hadid. I love how she mixes high-low fashion, and her chameleon-like red carpet style. Today, I’m going through some of my favourite style moments from the model-mogul!

One of my favourite aspects of Gigi’s style is that she will often look to up and coming designers for appearances, like this statement jacket by Edda Gimne. Giving exposure to new creatives rather than calling on more established labels is not only great for the designers, but ensures that she is fashion forward (and never in the same outfit as someone else!).

Never one to be afraid of a bold style statement, I love that Gigi often takes risks with her fashion – be it clashing prints, or trying exaggerated silhouettes. I loved this look for it’s playfulness, the oversized denim with raw edging, and the unexpected patterned belt – edgy, but so chic!

The red carpet is where Gigi really shines (can we talk about her gorgeous Met Gala look this year?), and I love how she isn’t afraid to switch up styles! This week she opted for a bold, top to toe canary yellow look, straight for the Prabal Gurung SS18 runway. I loved how she made it her own by carrying the hue through her accessories, and the bold crimson lip contrasted perfectly!

Even in casual looks, I really like how an interesting tailoring choice, or unexpected detail creeps into Gigi’s style. This all-white look on the surface feels very low key, but on closer inspection, the garter-like detail on the Y/PROJECT trousers elevates the whole look!
